With the golf season ramping up we have decided to put out new Driving Range balls early this year. Brand new balls in every bucket starting April 12th, 2021. Come visit Burnaby Driving Ranges for all your practice needs!
Happy New Year! While we have gone live with our upgraded Tee Time booking engine, we appreciate your patience during this transition. Please note, that while the payment of green fees will still be collected at the Pro Shops, your reservation will need to be secured with a credit card in the Tee-it-Up booking engine to prevent no-shows (less than 4 hours notice). For more information, please visit our Tee time booking page.
The key to golfing in the Off Season is layering your clothes.
About every 5 degrees celsius that the temperature drops, the golf ball will travel around 2 yards less. That could mean a full club difference from the beautiful 30 degree summer we had, to a 5 degree round of golf in November. Wearing the right clothing during the cold months can keep that drop in ball speed to one club by using these tips for layering up.
How far do you hit your Driver and 5 Iron?
The discussion about how far the golf ball travels has been strong for quite some time now. The golf ball, and equipment advancements have made the game more enjoyable for many, but has it influenced what tee boxes you play? For some the thought of playing anything other than the back tee boxesis out of the question, and for others they only feel comfortable playing the most forward tees on the golf course. So what is the right tee box to play?
How an old wedge can be costing you strokes.
Each year brands come out with the latest and greatest technology for their woods and irons to help you hit the ball further and make the face more forgiving than the previous year’s model. Rarely does a company come out with a test that compares its new product, to their own product after being used for a season. Titleist has done just that with their wedges, and it shows how much a wedge actually degrades in performance over different ranges of use. Check out this refreshing video from Titleist to see the difference between the same club after 125 rounds, 75 rounds, and brand new:

Every year, in preparation for the fall and winter months, Golf Burnaby goes through an extensive maintenance program to keep all our golf courses the driest in the lower mainland. With golfers in mind, Golf Burnaby’s putting green maintenance programs occur in early October to ensure the best playing conditions through all of September (one of the best golfing months of the year).
Putting greens are aerified to ensure the turfgrass plant has plenty of oxygen.
Please note that Central Park will not open until 8:00am on Wednesday, September 2nd due to a maintenance issue. We apologize for this inconvenience.
This year celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Burnaby Mountain Senior Men’s Golf Club. For half a century our friendly group of 190 gentlemen from various walks of life have been enjoying the warm comradery of each other’s company while playing golf together at the beautiful Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. Thinking of joining us? Please visit our website at www.bmsmgc.ca for more information about our vibrant club, its history, our memories, and the membership application process.
For most golfers, going to the driving range is the only way they can improve their game. While this is true and time well spent, we can make our time practicing more productive if we have a clear understanding of what our outcomes are after each golf shot. By using the poles at the end of the range as our guide, we can start to get a clear picture of whether or not we would have hit the fairway or green, or missed and hit the ball into the rough or trees. As a guide, here are the distances right or left of your target and this is where you would be if your golf ball traveled one pole right or left.
100 yard shot - 5.5 yards right or left
150 yard shot - 8.5 yards right or left
200 yard shot - 11 yards right or left
250 yards - 14 yards right or left
