Breaking Putts: The High/Low Drill

High and Low: Start with one golf ball 20 feet from the hole. Place a tee 2/3 of the distance between the ball and the hole on the line you think the ball should take to get to the hole.

Hit 2 balls from 20 feet, 30 feet and 40 feet. On the first putt try to hit the putt above the tee (high line) and on the second putt try and hit the putt below the tee (low line).

Scoring:

Birdie: If you stop your putt within 2 feet (10% of the 20 foot putt) and you score a birdie. Use the 10% scoring model for the 30 and 40 foot putts as well to score your Birdies.

Par: If you stop your put within 3 feet (15% of a 20 foot putt) and you score a par. Use the 15% scoring model for the 30 and 40 putts as well to score your Pars.

Bogey: If you stop a putt outside of 15% of the hole then you score a bogey. Use the same scoring model for the 30 and 40 foot putts as well to score your bogeys.
